Healthy Rapeseed Growth After a Moist Winter
“We currently have a nice crop of rapeseed which was established last September,” Charlie shares. “It received the moisture that it needed as its situated on top of the hill, and is growing really well.” Sunlight is now reaching the soil, providing the warmth necessary for optimal growth. After a wet winter, there is still plenty of moisture in the ground, creating the perfect balance for nutrient absorption and plant development.Natural Nitrogen Uptake and Growth Stages
Right now, the rapeseed plants are absorbing natural nitrogen from the soil. “The nitrogen in the ground is going into the root structure, and over the next few days and weeks, we’ll see stem elongation, where the plant increases in length,” Charlie explains. As the plants continue to grow, they will spread out, begin flowering, and eventually form pods. The pods will be harvested later on in the year, contributing to the season’s yield.
