Cotswolds Mince Pie White Russian
Here is our take on a classic White Russian. We have swapped the traditional vodka for Cotswolds Distillery Signature Single Malt, to bring in some extra Christmassy flavours. The drink is lifted with a Mince Pie syrup, to go full on Christmas and served with mince pies and our Cotswolds Whisky Butter.
Serves 1
Ingredients
- 50ml Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky (you could also use spiced rum, bourbon or vodka)
- 25ml Coffee Liqueur
- 20ml Mince Pie Syrup (see below)
- 50ml Double Cream, chilled
Garnish:
- Cotswold Gold Whisky Butter
- Mince Pie Pastry – crumbled
- Nutmeg and Cinnamon, ground for dusting
Method
- Spread Whisky Butter around the rim of an old fashioned glass. Then dip into the mince pie pastry crumbs
- Add whisky, coffee liqueur and mince pie syrup into the glass and stir.
- Fill with ice
- Float over the cream or just mix straight in and gently stir
- Garnish with a dusting of nutmeg and cinnamon (optional)
- Serve with a mince pie and Whisky Butter on the side.
Mince Pie Syrup Ingredients:
- 100g sugar, white granulated
- 100ml water
- 2 tbsp quality mincemeat (or scoop from mince pies. Saving the pastry for the garnish)
Mince Pie Syrup Method:
- Combine the sugar, water and mincemeat in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat and let it gently simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the solids, and let it cool. Store in a sealed jar or bottle.
